Allegiant Health’s PerkUp® to combat worker fatigue

Every year OSHA releases a list of its Top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety violations, which include trips, falls, hazcom issues, and other expected issues, BUT the most dangerous issue identified is not readily observed, and it is fatigue.

According to the National Safety Council:

  • Safety performance decreases as employees become tired
  • 62% of night shift workers complain about sleep loss
  • Fatigued worker productivity costs employers $1,200 to $3,100 per employee annually
  • Employees on rotating shifts are particularly vulnerable because they cannot adapt their “body clocks” to an alternative sleep pattern

When workers are fatigued, they suffer from decreased alertness which can cause slower reaction times, reduced vigilance, reduced decision-making ability, poor judgment, distraction during complex tasks, and loss of awareness in critical situations. Excessively fatigued workers are 70% more likely to be involved in accidents than alert individuals.

To combat worker fatigue and help reduce workplace accidents, Allegiant Health’s PerkUp® is up to the challenge.

An alert worker is a safer worker.
